In recent years I have found many good podcasts to listen to. Here is a list of my podcasts recommendations for 2025 and a brief summary of what to expect. Some podcasts are about Christianity and making disciples while others are about cycling and surfing/bodyboarding.
The World and Everything in It is an Apple Podcasts top 100 News program delivering essential headlines, field reporting, interviews, and expert analysis every weekday. Hear original coverage such as a weekly overview of every Supreme Court case, biblical cultural analysis, and key international stories.
My friend Mark has been making podcasts for Christian Surfers for a while and these are available to be watched on Youtube. He interviews Christians who are surfers. I was even interviewed a few years back for the series called Talk Story.
Christianity
The Compelled Podcast uses gripping, immersive storytelling to bring Christian testimonies to life. Listen to more than a hundred well crafted interviews of people who have had amazing life encounters. 7 of their favorite stories from the podcast have been retold and are published in the Compelled book.
5 Minutes in Church History – Travel back in time with Stephen Nichols to look at the people, events, and places that have shaped the story of Christianity. This podcast offers an accessible glimpse into how God has worked in the church and how this can encourage us today.
Ask Pastor John is a podcast by John Piper where he answers tough theological and pastoral questions. There are more that two thousand episodes and more added each week.
Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life are sermons by Rev. Tim Keller, founder of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NYC and NY Times best-selling author of ”The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism.” and many other books.
The Crazy Love podcast mostly featuring Francis Chan seeks to promote a higher view of God, and edify and encourage people all over the world to see that the only sane response to God’s love is wholehearted devotion to Jesus.
Missions
Mission Chats presented by Jon Crowe is where global missions meets real life. In each episode, host Jon Crowe—a missionary kid turned missions leader who I grew up with—chats with people involved in evangelical missions. You will hear powerful stories, hard-earned insights, and practical advice for mission leaders, missionaries, and those exploring their calling.
Movements podcast with Steve Addison is a must for people wanting encouragement to “follow and fish”. Hear stories and insights from the field on multiplying disciples and churches everywhere.
The Coworkers podcast is “where every believer is a coworker in God’s mission”. God wants to use all believers in powerful and diverse ways in His mission. In this podcast, the missionary couple will dig into the Bible together, hear from fruitful coworkers around the world, and share practical tips and tools from their 20 years of missions experience.
Discipling
The Disciple Makers Podcast exists to tell stories about disciples of Jesus who make disciples. Discipleship.org, who sponsors the podcast, exists to Champion Jesus‘ way of disciple making. Episodes are published in thematic seasons. They have have free and premium/paid episodes.
The On The Road podcast has been a favourite of mine for many years. In the 6 podcast seasons, Peter Lindell (Pheaney) explores the answers to the questions of What does No Place Left mean? Can my church start a movement that would cause the gospel to reach every corner of my city? Can I?. He interviews guests that are pursuing movement, shares skills and tools you can put into practice, and always includes awesome stories of God at work.
The Disciple Making podcast by Tim Beadle and Daren Wride has been useful to me as I followed them as they became more aligned to what they saw Jesus was asking followers to do. They seek to show how someone can be an effective disciple of Jesus Christ who makes disciples.
Sport
The Ask a Cycling Coach Podcast by TrainerRoad has more than 400 episodes and each week coaches, athletes, and researchers answer cycling and triathlon questions. Listen and learn tips to help you get faster and better.
The Bonk Bros podcast is a (IMO often too long) fun, lighthearted weekly cycling show covering gravel and MTB race talk. The hosts are Dylan Johnson, Drew Dillman, Scott McGill, Adam Saban and Tyler Cloutier.
The Le Boogie Podcast hasn’t been updated since late 2022, but the interviews with well known bodyboard people are still worth a listen.
